GPS-stamped photographs are increasingly accepted as supporting evidence in civil disputes, property boundary cases, damage claims and regulatory proceedings. Best Practices for Legal Documentation

  1. Enable all stamp fields: Address, Coordinates, Date/Time, and Accuracy
  2. Use the Classic template — all information clearly visible in the bottom bar
  3. Take multiple photos from different angles — more angles = stronger evidence
  4. Include context shots showing the wider area (not just close-ups)
  5. Keep the original downloaded file — do not edit or crop the stamped photo
  6. Add a Custom Note with a description: "Eastern boundary marker", "Dumped material at site entrance"

Preserving Evidence Integrity

Once you download a GPS-stamped photo, store the original file without modification. The GPS data is visible on the image itself — it cannot be invisibly altered without destroying the stamp. For the strongest evidence chain, note the date and time you downloaded the file and store it in a secure, timestamped location such as a cloud storage service with version history.
